About New Beginnings

The year is in full swing! But for some of us, it still feels like it just started. Goals are being set (or revisited), plans are unfolding, and the energy of a new year is still in the air. But what happens when the year doesn’t start with the momentum you expected? What if you haven’t even set your goals yet?

If that’s you, take a deep breath — it’s okay. Every new day is a chance to begin again, to move with intention, and to trust the process.

Speaking of fresh starts, you might have noticed The Yellow Blog was quiet for a while. We took some time off to properly prepare for the new year. But now we’re back, and we’re here to stay!

Since it’s still early in the year, let me say — Happy New Year!

I know — it’s February, and the year has been in motion for a while now. But I hope it’s not too late to say it. How have you been? Did the year start on a high note for you?

I have been doing well. I set some goals and started taking steps toward them, but more than anything, I want to trust God completely this year. No holding back. No playing it safe. Just pouring all my eggs in God’s basket and following His lead.

Now here we are in February — the month of love and butterflies. But love is more than romance, grand gestures, or fleeting emotions. This month, I want to be intentional about love in all its forms.

There’s a quote I came across in a book recently:

“True love never dies. It lives on in the people we touch, the lives we change, and the hearts we hold.” — Esther Okuru (What Love Left Unfinished)

When I read this, something clicked — love isn’t just about how we feel. It’s about how we impact others. It’s not limited to a single day of celebration; it’s something we live out daily. It’s in how we treat people, the kindness we extend, and the marks we leave behind. Whether in relationships, friendships, family, or community, love should be expressed in our actions not just words.

So, as we move through the year, I want to remind you:

God loves you, and He has plans for you. Big ones. He has called you to purpose, given you visions, and placed assignments in your heart. And the best part? He is with you every step of the way.

If you’ve been doubting your goals or feeling like you’re already behind, I need you to know that you have valid dreams, no matter how big. God is more than willing to help you achieve them. Because it is His will for you to flourish, to walk boldly in purpose, and to be excellent at it.

So this year, let your light shine. No hiding. No fear. Walk boldly in what God has called you to do, knowing that the one who has begun this good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6)

Since love is in the air, I have a little gift for you. We created a playlist titled For The Thing In Your Belly — a collection of songs that speak to love in its purest, deepest forms. It’s a wholesome, beautifully curated playlist that captures love in all its expressions. Whether you’re in love, waiting for love, or just soaking in the beauty of this season, there’s something in it for you. You can listen to it here

Until next time, keep growing, keep loving, and keep shining!
