Dear reader, how have you been?

We have some exciting news to share with you! But before we get to that, let’s take a trip down memory lane…

Do you remember what profession fascinated you the most as a child?

Surprisingly, both Koko and I admired doctors. We thought they were the coolest humans alive! So whenever someone asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” we’d answer without hesitation, “A doctor!”

Growing up, you’d probably agree that we all saw those who walked around in white coats with stethoscopes around their necks as the real superheroes.

Another public proclamation of our future medical careers came every time we sang ‘Sandalili Sandalili’ at our school’s Career Day. Yes, we know it’s actually ‘standard living,’ but ‘Sandalili’ sounds better. (blame it on how we sang it in primary school). 😏

In the spirit of this childhood nostalgia, we had a quick chat with Aigbeh D’gong about his upcoming song release titled ‘Sandalili’, and here’s how it went…

What is ‘Sandalili’ about?

D’gong: It’s boasting about being God’s child and reflecting on His beauty in our lives. It’s also about God’s loving fatherhood.

Why the title?

D’gong: Bruh 😂, my mind works in mysterious ways.

When I started thinking about being God’s ‘baby’, I knew I had to find something from my childhood that brought me joy, and I remembered that rhyme. It just clicked with the song.

It’s me merging my natural childhood experience with the supernatural fatherhood of God.

I want people to feel joy and excitement when they listen to the song, and to capture a vivid image of what it feels like to be a child.

I’m also a very descriptive artist. I had to paint a picture of God smiling and opening His arms to hug you, unlike the stern image some of us had of our fathers who just wanted us to stay indoors.

When is the release date?

D’gong: ‘Sandalili’ drops on Friday, August 23rd!
