KING OF THE JEWS
As the time drew near
There came a woman
Who poured out her perfume
In preparation for His burial
He knew, from the start
The one who would sell Him out
Judas, the enemy from within
He loved him still
The time was near
The time to wash away our sins and despair
Oh, He was distressed! For the pain, He would bear
So, He turned to the Father
And, He was strengthened and without fear
It was time, for calvary’s tree
So, He surrendered to the Father’s will
Then came soldiers, at night
To take Him away for trial
In a bid to fulfill the age-long decree
The people gave Him to pilate
Filled with so much hate
They chose a criminal in His stead
Pilate was a bit hesitant
However, he gave in to their demands
How dreadful it was!
On His head, the soldiers placed a crown of thorns
Stripped and flogged
He was made to carry His cross
To the place of the skull
He was nailed to the cross
Hands, and feet!
He was mocked
Jesus! King of the Jews
Oh! How badly he was bruised
Then came the sixth hour
When darkness fell upon the land
And He, Jesus
Placing His Spirit in the Father’s hands
He drew His last
Behold!
Ripped in two was the fate of the veil
Risen were all the saints
For Jesus had finished His work!
And men will tell that indeed!
He is, The Son of God!
