The Woman With The Blood Issue & Lessons To Learn
Hi Readers 👋
Your favorite blog is here again with a sweet post 💃 💃 💃
How have you been this week? How has May been to you?
Great, I hope!
Today, I have a pretty simple story for you.
If you read last week’s post, I wrote about Faith and I gave an astonishing example of someone who had so much faith in God. If you missed it, after reading this, please go read it ▶️https://theyellowblog.medium.com/abraham-8c3657d3da7a
Now, a lot of people did exercise faith in the bible but there is something interesting about the woman in today’s blog post.
The book of Matthew, Mark, and Luke all gave accounts of a woman who had an issue of blood.
Matthew 9:20–22, Mark 5:25–34, and Luke 8:43–48
And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment. For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour — Matthew 9:20–22 KJV
One faithful day our dear Saviour, Jesus was walking and people gathered around him, following him. They were probably looking for a miracle.
Honestly, as “tush” as I like to act in a crowd, if I were in that circumstance, I would definitely touch Jesus o!
The bible tells us that in the crowd, there was a woman who had been dealing with hemorrhage for twelve years. Like, TWELVE YEARS!
A woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years, and had endured much at the hands of many physicians, and had spent all that she had and was not helped at all, but instead had become worse — Mark 5 vs 25–26 NASB
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, TWELVE!! That is 144 MONTHS or 4,368 days!!!
Readers! That’s a really long time!
Fortunately, the Healer was in the neighborhood and this woman said to herself “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
She believed in her heart that if she touched Jesus’ garment, she would get healed. That’s FAITH!
Indeed, she did. She touched His garment and immediately she got healed of her affliction. Glory! Hallelujah!
after hearing about Jesus, she came up in the crowd behind Him and touched His cloak. For she had been saying to herself, “If I just touch His garments, I will get well.” And immediately the flow of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease — Mark 5 vs 27–29 NASB
One thing to note here is that she not only had faith, but she also worked out her faith.
This is why I’m writing today; “FAITH AND ACTION”.
“Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead”. James 2:17 NKJV
Faith without works is pointless.
When you have faith, you need to act on it just as the woman with the blood issue did by touching Jesus’ garment.
And, when she touched Him, Jesus immediately knew that virtue had gone out of him so, he sought to find her.
And immediately Jesus, perceiving in Himself that power from Him had gone out, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My garments?” And His disciples said to Him, “You see the crowd pressing in on You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’” And He looked around to see the woman who had done this. But the woman, fearing and trembling, aware of what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be cured of your disease.” — Mark 5 vs 30–34 NASB
In His kindness, love, and gentleness, Jesus turned to the woman and said to her,
“Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” Luke 8:48 NKJV
Readers, when you really study this passage, you can literally feel the calmness that comes from the words of Jesus. His words when he turned to look at the woman, were that of acceptance, love, and not judgment.
NOW, LESSONS TO LEARN FROM THIS STORY.
1. When faced with a problem, turn to Jesus with faith in your heart and believe that you will have answers.
2. Take action. The action you are to take is that of rejoicing & thanksgiving! Thank God for answers even when you haven’t seen them.
3. Acknowledge God.
Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately — Luke 8:47 NKJV.
This passage shows that after she was healed she acknowledged the one who healed her. We must learn to acknowledge God when we receive from Him.
Finally, I leave you with a word from the book of James, James 2 vs 18;
“But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” James 2:18 NKJV
I pray that whatever you are having faith in God for, He will speedily and miraculously answer in Jesus’ Name.
Do have a lovely weekend and write to us, please. We would love to hear from you 😊
I remain,
